Challenge
To provide a graphical cut planning and tracking tool for dismembering platform structures integrated with the DeepWorks simulation and visualisation software.
Solution
Fugro GRL implemented an embedded structure model editor to allow platform structures to be constructed from a library of basic structural components. An integrated cut planning tool then allows cut plans to be prepared and optimised in advance of offshore operations. The platform model is linked to and given position in the mission configuration and the model state is updated and audit trial maintained during cutting operations.
Business Benefits
Cut planning generates virtual cuts with the weights of cut pieces calculated and displayed on the fly during planning thus enabling more efficient and safer cut operations. The cut plan as a whole is continually checked as cuts are added to ensure cut sequences remain valid. Having a graphical plan to follow as a management checklist during live operations provides accurate tracking and an audit trial for post operations reporting.
